🦈 Meet the Bull Shark 🦈

🔹 Key Features🔹
Bull sharks have a stout, muscular body with a high width-to-length ratio, giving them their powerful “bullish” look. Their countershading helps them blend into their surroundings — dark gray on top to match the seafloor, and white underneath to match the sunlight above. Males grow up to 7 feet (2 m), while females can reach 11 feet (3,5 m) long.
🔹 Diet🔹
Bull sharks eat a wide variety of prey — from fish, rays, and crustaceans to smaller sharks and sea turtles. They usually patrol the seafloor but can strike fast when needed, reaching speeds of up to 11 mph (18 km/h).
🔹 Fun Fact🔹
Bull sharks can live in freshwater thanks to their incredible ability to regulate salt levels (osmoregulation). Their kidneys adjust to different salinity levels, allowing them to swim from the ocean into rivers — even hundreds of miles inland!

❓ Frequently Asked Questions ❓
I’m staying in Cancun — can I still join the bull shark dive?
Yes! We provide round-trip transportation from Cancun to Playa del Carmen for all our bull shark diving experiences. You’ll travel comfortably in an air-conditioned vehicle, and our team will handle all logistics so you can simply relax and enjoy your dive day.
When is bull shark season in Playa del Carmen?
Bull shark season runs from November to March, when female bull sharks migrate to the warm, shallow waters off Playa del Carmen. This is the only time of year when divers can reliably encounter them.
Do I need to be a certified diver?
Yes. Bull shark dives are open to certified divers only (minimum PADI Open Water or equivalent). If you haven’t dived recently, we recommend booking a refresher course before your shark dive.
Is it safe to dive with bull sharks?
Absolutely — safety is our top priority. Our experienced guides follow strict procedures and maintain safe distances at all times. The dives are observational only, and we never provoke or disturb the sharks’ natural behavior.
Are the dives done with feeding?
We offer two options:
- A non-feeding natural observation dive (included in the 2-dive package).
- A feeding observation dive, where professional guides conduct a controlled feeding while divers watch from a safe position.
How deep are the dives?
Bull shark dives typically take place between 70 and 90 feet (21–27 meters), followed by a second, shallower reef dive if you choose the 2-dive option.
What’s included in the price?
Each package includes:
- Equipment
- Tanks and weights
- Dive guide
- Drinking water and light snacks
- Round-trip transportation from Cancun or Playa del Carmen
- Marine park fees
(Photo/video packages available upon request.)
What happens if the weather is bad?
Your safety comes first. In case of poor sea conditions, we’ll reschedule your dive for the next available day or offer a full refund if rescheduling isn’t possible.
How do I book my dive?
You can book directly through WhatsApp. We recommend reserving early, as bull shark season has limited daily spots and fills up quickly!
